As a patient, what can I expect from a treatment?
The Stimpod NMS460 therapy is a non-invasive, non-drug treatment. The therapy is delivered by a pen-like stimulation probe which is placed on the skin, often near the nerve that is associated with a patient’s condition. The sensation of the electrical pulses can vary depending on the underlying pathology from ‘no sensation’ to a sensation similar to a light pinprick.A treatment session can last on average 5 to 10 minutes per affected nerve. Most patients see positive results after the first two sessions.
Once the source of pain is identified, the most suitable treatment protocol is selected for your treatment.
The practitioner locates an appropriate stimulation site and applies conductive gel to the treatment area. The practitioner then finds the nerve requiring treatment using the pen-like stimulation probe. This entails moving the pen around the skin surface whilst an electrical pulse is delivered.
Depending on the condition, the sensation of the electrical pulses can vary from ‘no sensation’ to a sensation similar to a light pinprick. While searching for the nerve, the practitioner adjusts the current to best accommodate your level of comfort. The treatment is best done in a comfortable range
After locating the nerve, you might feel a sensation referring down the path of the nerve along with a contraction of the muscle which is supplied by the treated nerve.
We rely on your feedback to find a current intensity which is most comfortable for you.
If the stimulation site is too sensitive, please inform your practitioner so that he/she may find a more suitable treatment location.
At this point, the practitioner starts the treatment which typically lasts around five minutes per site of treatment during which you are exposed to a sequence of light electrical impulses traveling directly and exclusively along the targeted nerve.
Upon completion of the session, most patients experience significant improvement. In some cases, there can be a delayed effect and, only in isolated cases, the symptoms of the condition briefly intensify whilst the healing process starts to take effect.
It is vital for you to follow your practitioner’s recommendation regarding follow-up sessions in order to achieve optimal restorative effects.
